Prior Lake, Minnesota - On November 11, 2006, Dakotah! Sport and Fitness sponsored their annual Turkey Trot 5K and Kids' Run. The run started at Dakotah!, and the course continued through The Meadows at Mystic Lake, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community golf course. There was a Kids' Fun Run following the 5K to encourage youth to take up the sport.

"The winner from this year came in two minutes faster than last year's winner," said DSF Fitness Manager Teresa Zupancich. "The golf course route is challenging, but manageable for new runners and walkers. We were fortunate in having beautiful weather. It was in the 20s, sunny, and there was no wind, which was perfect."

Awards were given to first, second, and third place overall male and female finishers of the 5K. All 86 registered runners received t-shirts. Each of the 20 Kids' Fun Run participants received a finisher's certificate.

The Overall Men's Winners were Carson Smith, age 17, of Prior Lake, in first place with a time of 17:40; Frank Loy, age 46, of Maple Grove, in second place with a time of 18:03; and John Zwanziger, age 18, of Savage, in third place with a time of 18:31.

The Overall Women's Winners were Sarah Heuer, age 18, of Savage, in first place with a time of 20:12; Paige Foster, age 14, of Prior Lake, in second place with a time of 20:25; and Victoria Ranua, age 26, of Prior Lake, in third place with a time of 20:36.

Other top finishers were Robert Bergstron of St. Paul (18:46); Shaun Keilen of Prior Lake (20:04); Jim Everson of Prior Lake (20:07); Greg Hayes of Chanhassen (20:22); Mark Scholl of Prior Lake (20:31); Jessica Scheu of Prior Lake ( 21:52); Mark Brady of Shakopee (21:54); Thomas Cunningham of Prior Lake (22:06); Jim Smieja of Belle Plaine (22:16); and Kristine DeLarosby of Prior Lake (22:25).
