Prior Lake, Minnesota - The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community has purchased the Kwik Trip gas station and convenience store at 14160 Wilds Path North in Prior Lake, Minnesota.

The closing was held July 26, 2007. Convenience Store Investments of Lacrosse, Wisconsin, sold the business to the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community for an undisclosed amount. The Kwik Trip, which opened in 2006, has 13 fuel dispensers including diesel and E-85. It also has a car wash and a convenience store.

The store will close for approximately one month during the transition since many of the systems in place are proprietary and will take time to be replaced. Most employees of Kwik Trip are being retained by Convenience Store Investments and will transfer to other locations.

The SMSC has operated the Shakopee Dakota Convenience Store on the reservation a few blocks south of the Kwik Trip since 1994.

"This seemed like a good opportunity and a good fit with our current enterprises," said SMSC Chairman Stanley R. Crooks.
